The North Shore of Long Island has lots of wonderful trees; beautiful, old trees. As beautiful as they are, they can become very, very dangerous in storms and when there are high winds. Sunday morning we woke to find this fellow down just steps up from our driveway.
It also smacked into another tree behind it and did this, above. I don't want to even think about the damage that would have been done to our house and cars had it fallen to the right instead of the left. Not to mention that is where we walk puppy boy several times a day.
Mother Nature has a way of reminding us that there is an awful lot that is out of our control.

WOW!! That's scary!
Where on the north shore are you? I have friends in Nassau county - Sound Beach!
Mother nature does not discriminate. At the base of my balsam fir...there was a two inch ring from where the tree had been rockin'. I had to close the blinds so I wouldn't keep staring at it...called the arborist right away.
Glad you are OK.
Whoa! Glad your house was safe! This tree was huge!
I yiyi, how scary. You're the 3rd person in the last week that I know who had a huge tree fall from a storm. Thank god no one was hurt in any of them.
Hope Mother Nature is cutting you a break now.
Cheers,
jj
OMGosh! So glad you are okay. Was this from a storm or lighting? Yikes! Did you hear it snap? :) xoxo
Yes, Mother Nature does let us see her strong power from time to time, and her beauty everyday.
SP, I live in Locust Valley (Nassau County).
PM, no we didn't hear it & it was not even a storm; just wind!
